We’re heading deep into the heart of Cannock Chase for our next Vanlove Ramble.
Situated in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Tackeroo Campsite is nestled amongst the pines with trails right on your doorstep. It’s the ultimate base for a weekend of woodland wanders, vanlife chats, and nights under the stars. There’s also a large variety of free roaming wildlife who frequent the site, so make sure you bring your binoculars!

We’re heading to the stunning woodlands of Cannock Chase for our next hike with our brilliant Vanlove Rambles community. Join us as we take on a 10-mile circular trail, starting right from Tackeroo Campsite, weaving through the southern edge of Brocton Coppice and looping back via the beautiful Sherbrook Valley. This route has it all: ancient oak woodlands, open heathland, and forest paths where you might just spot a deer, a woodpecker—or even an adder basking in the sun (keep your eyes peeled!).
The walk is moderately challenging in places, with a few rough or exposed sections—so sturdy footwear is a must, especially if it’s been raining. This is a shared trail with runners, cyclists, and fellow ramblers, so we’ll be staying aware of others along the way.
Dogs are welcome, but they must stay on leads to protect the local wildlife and delicate flora. When selecting a date, we took into consideration that there is a shooting ground local to the route which is closed on Sundays.
Please be aware that this 10-mile walk does not include any first aid support, and by participating, you do so at your own risk; if at any point you feel unable to continue, ensure you have reviewed the route beforehand to know how to safely return to the campsite.

THINGS TO REMEMBER:
As this is a total no frills event at a remote wild camping location, you will need to come prepared with your own food and drink for the weekend and sufficient gear to survive whatever the weather throws our way as well as correct footwear for the hike. Please also ensure you are fit and able to complete the hike.
Vanlove is not being paid or making a profit putting on this event, it’s just for fun. The only charge to come is the nightly rate to stay at Tackeroo Campsite, booked in advance on their website.
